Orbit Privacy Policy

Orbit is a personal task and focus extension designed to keep your work organized with minimal data collection.

Data stored on your device

Your tasks, project names, priorities, due dates and times, recurrence settings, saved page titles and URLs, focus history, weekly-review status, language choice, and preferences are stored locally using Chrome’s storage API. Natural-date parsing, recurring-task generation, streaks, reward points and productivity insights run on your device.

Optional encrypted Cloud Vault

Plus members and active trial users may manually back up their Orbit data to Chrome Sync. Before upload, Orbit encrypts the backup on the device with AES-256-GCM using a key derived from the user’s passphrase. Orbit does not store or transmit the passphrase and cannot recover it. Google Chrome stores and synchronizes only the encrypted backup, its encryption parameters, and its update time. Cloud Vault is optional and never runs automatically.

Payment, trial and account data

Plus membership, trial activation and membership verification are provided by ExtensionPay and its payment processor. Voluntary contributions open Stripe directly. A contribution never counts as Plus membership. Orbit does not receive or store your full payment-card details. ExtensionPay may process your email address, trial status, payment status, plan, and payment timestamps under its own privacy terms.

Browser access

Orbit accesses the active tab only when you explicitly capture a page. It stores that page’s title and URL as part of the task you create. Orbit does not monitor browsing history or read pages in the background.

Shared Orbits

When you create a Shared Orbit handoff, Orbit locally encodes the selected task into a portable message that you may copy and send through a service of your choice. Only that task is included; its source URL is omitted unless you explicitly enable it. The code is not uploaded to an Orbit server and expires after 30 days. Anyone who receives the message may read and import the included task, so you should share it only with people you trust.

Partner Perks

When you choose an unlocked Partner Perk, Orbit opens the partner’s official or approved affiliate page in a new tab. Orbit does not send your tasks, focus history, points, or review status to that partner. The destination site may process ordinary browser and account data under its own privacy policy. Public and affiliate offers are subject to the partner’s eligibility, availability, renewal, and billing terms.

Data sharing

Orbit does not sell user data or use task data for advertising. Payment-related information is shared only with ExtensionPay and Stripe when necessary. Encrypted Cloud Vault data is stored through the Chrome Sync service only when the user requests a backup. Shared Orbit task data leaves the extension only when the user copies and sends a handoff. Opening a Partner Perk is a user-initiated visit to the displayed external site.

Export and deletion

Premium members and active trial users can export their Orbit data as JSON. You can delete individual tasks, clear completed tasks, or remove locally stored data by uninstalling the extension and clearing its site data. Chrome Sync backups remain associated with the signed-in Chrome profile until replaced or removed from Chrome’s synchronized extension data.

Security and retention

Local data is retained until you delete it. Trial and payment-status requests are transmitted over HTTPS by ExtensionPay. Cloud Vault uses authenticated encryption and a passphrase known only to the user. No system can guarantee absolute security.

Children

Orbit is not directed to children under 13 and does not knowingly collect personal information from children.
